I am directed by the President of the General Board of Health to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th instant, in which you state with reference to the observations of the President on a report of the Colonial Surgeon of Hong Kong communicated to this Department in the letter from the Colonial Office of the 4th of September last, that it is the wish of the Secretary of State for the Colonies to be furnished by this Department with such suggestions and information as will enable him to instruct the Authorities in Her Majesty's Colonial Possessions in matters of sanitary administration.
